Market Fluctuations Amidst Anticipation of CPI Report
In a volatile prelude to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) report, stocks displayed a certain uneasiness on Monday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average marked a historic moment by reaching a new record high, while the S&P 500 retraced from its recent pinnacle. Simultaneously, the Nasdaq Composite fell short of the record it last achieved in November 2021.
The Nasdaq Composite, initially poised to set a new record during the day, concluded with a 0.3% decline. In contrast, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed with a 0.3% gain, amounting to a record-breaking surge of 126 points. The S&P 500 experienced a marginal dip of 0.1%.
