Unusual Activity Report

This daily report focuses on three key components that can lead to market momentum: unusual options activity, insider buying, and institutional sponsorship. By scanning for these signals each day, we uncover potential stock movements driven by notable trades, insider transactions, and institutional investments. Using advanced algorithms and proprietary research methods, we sift through vast amounts of data to identify unique opportunities, offering timely insights highlighting emerging market momentum.

Standout Options Trades

This section highlights notable options trades reflecting significant sentiment—bullish, bearish, or mixed—characterized by high-dollar-value transactions or large trade sizes exceeding prior open interest. When open interest rises from the previous day, it often indicates the creation of new positions rather than the closing of existing ones, suggesting a fresh outlook on the underlying stock or ETF.

For instance, call buying generally signals an expectation of upward movement, while selling calls suggest the trader anticipates the price will stay below a certain level. Put selling reflects confidence that the price will hold above the strike, implying stability. In contrast, put buying may reveal a bearish outlook or serve as a hedge against a larger bullish position elsewhere.

This report highlights large, unusual options trades identified for their size and potential impact, representing individual sentiment rather than broad market consensus. These trades are informational and are not intended as buy or sell signals. They reflect noteworthy activity observed during the trading day and should be viewed as one part of a broader analysis.

Institutional Spotlight: July 24, 2025

Tracking Key Accumulation Across Select Equities

Institutional activity remained robust, with several notable disclosures revealing fresh positioning across both micro-cap and large-cap names. Empery Asset Management LP emerged as an active player, increasing exposure to speculative growth plays. A newly filed position in Greenlane Holdings (GNLN) shows ownership of 14,006 shares, representing 1.02% of the company. More significantly, Empery reported a 5.83% stake in Volcon (VLCN), amounting to 2,626,594 shares. The latter suggests a high-conviction position in the electric powersports manufacturer, potentially signaling confidence in a turnaround or pending catalyst.

Another large commitment came from Gagnon Securities LLC, which disclosed a 5.20% ownership in CareDx (CDNA) with 2,894,541 shares. This level of accumulation marks a significant show of institutional confidence in the precision medicine company, particularly amid industry consolidation and innovation in organ transplant diagnostics.

In the large-cap space, JPMorgan Chase & Co. disclosed material holdings in both utilities and niche funds. The bank now owns 68,426,236 shares of Southern Company (SO), representing 6.20% ownership. The scale of this position underscores JPMorgan’s stable, yield-focused exposure amid macro uncertainty. Additionally, the firm reported a 7.50% stake in FLOC, totaling 1,954,108 shares, suggesting a strategic allocation to specialized credit or structured products.

Jacobs Asset Management, led by Seymour Jacobs, disclosed a 6.18% ownership in PB Bankshares (PBBK) with 157,700 shares. This move may indicate a focused bet on regional banking resilience or M&A potential in the small-cap financial space. Similarly, Wolverine Asset Management LLC filed on UYSC, revealing a 5.55% stake through 425,000 shares. While under-the-radar, this accumulation reflects growing interest in thinly traded names with potential asymmetric upside.
