Unusual Activity Report
This daily report focuses on three key components that can lead to market momentum: unusual options activity, insider buying, and institutional sponsorship. By scanning for these signals each day, we uncover potential stock movements driven by notable trades, insider transactions, and institutional investments. Using advanced algorithms and proprietary research methods, we sift through vast amounts of data to identify unique opportunities, offering timely insights highlighting emerging market momentum.

Standout Options Trades
This section highlights notable options trades reflecting significant sentiment—bullish, bearish, or mixed—characterized by high-dollar-value transactions or large trade sizes exceeding prior open interest. When open interest rises from the previous day, it often indicates the creation of new positions rather than the closing of existing ones, suggesting a fresh outlook on the underlying stock or ETF.
For instance, call buying generally signals an expectation of upward movement, while selling calls suggest the trader anticipates the price will stay below a certain level. Put selling reflects confidence that the price will hold above the strike, implying stability. In contrast, put buying may reveal a bearish outlook or serve as a hedge against a larger bullish position elsewhere.
This report highlights large, unusual options trades identified for their size and potential impact, representing individual sentiment rather than broad market consensus. These trades are informational and are not intended as buy or sell signals. They reflect noteworthy activity observed during the trading day and should be viewed as one part of a broader analysis.
Options Flow Analysis: Trading Day 2025-7-31
The following analysis focuses on the Stock Options Flow Leaderboard for the trading day 2025-7-31. Each section highlights significant institutional activity, providing sentiment, key observations, and market expectations based on the data. All numbers represent large block trades likely executed by institutional players, not total-market figures.
Note: This report highlights institutional block option flow based on net premium. Strike prices and expiration dates are not available with block data.
Western Digital Corporation (WDC)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Significant premium was paid for call options, totaling $41,126,077, while only a minimal amount of premium was collected from put sales. The net premium totaled $40,786,069, indicating strong bullish sentiment by institutional participants.
Total Premium: $41,126,077 in call buying, $389,906 in call selling, $29,942 in put buying, $79,840 in put selling
Analysis: The substantial call buying combined with minimal put activity suggests aggressive bullish positioning. The elevated premium spent on calls reflects institutional confidence in upward price movement for Western Digital in the near term.
Alibaba Group Holding (BABA)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Premium spent on call buying amounted to $8,464,480, significantly outweighing the total put premium activity. Net premium totaled $7,470,349, with light put selling contributing positively to sentiment.
Total Premium: $8,464,480 in call buying, $1,965,937 in call selling, $557,846 in put buying, $1,529,652 in put selling
Analysis: The dominance of call buying over put buying and the additional premium collected from put selling points to a bullish outlook. Institutions appear to be positioning for a rebound or continuation higher in Alibaba’s stock price.
Scorpio Tankers Inc. (STNG)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: A large block of call premium was bought totaling $7,287,000 with no accompanying put premium activity, suggesting a one-sided bullish trade.
Total Premium: $7,287,000 in call buying
Analysis: The isolated and high-value call buying with no significant selling or put exposure suggests a confident directional bet to the upside by institutional traders.
Snap Inc. (SNAP)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Institutions spent $9,271,398 on call buying, while collecting $324,622 from put selling. The net premium totaled $6,144,817.
Total Premium: $9,271,398 in call buying, $3,021,346 in call selling, $429,857 in put buying, $324,622 in put selling
Analysis: The high call premium bought suggests positive sentiment toward SNAP, reinforced by modest put selling. Institutions may be positioning for a continuation move higher following recent price activity.
Western Midstream Partners, LP (WES)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Call premium buying totaled $2,721,600 with no recorded put activity, signaling bullish sentiment without opposing bets.
Total Premium: $2,721,600 in call buying
Analysis: The lack of put activity and clean call buying suggest a clear bullish stance by institutions. Traders appear to be positioning for a move higher in WES, potentially in response to broader energy or pipeline strength.
Important Note: The numbers above only represent aggregate figures of large block trades made by institutions. They are not total-market figures and should not be interpreted as such.
Individual Options Trades: Trading Day 2025-7-31
This section focuses on unusual trades that stand out on an individual basis. These trades are highlighted for their distinctiveness, reflecting significant activity that diverges from typical market behavior.
United States Antimony Corporation (UAMY)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Notable call buying activity across multiple exchanges for the $5 strike expiring August 15, 2025 (15 days to expiry), with additional longer-dated calls bought for the September 19, 2025 expiry (50 days to expiry).
Total Values: $100,690 in combined premium paid
Strike Price: $5
Analysis: With UAMY trading at $3.005–$3.065, the $5 strike calls are well out-of-the-money, suggesting speculative bullish sentiment and positioning for a breakout. The concentration of volume across exchanges and significant total premium spent indicate aggressive call buying for potential upside over both short and medium time frames.
Bumble Inc. (BMBL)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: A surge in call buying activity focused on the August 15, 2025 expiry (15 days to expiry), spread across multiple $7–$9 strike levels. Highest concentration is at the $8 strike, with sweep and exchange trades executed in size.
Total Values: $281,258 in total premium paid across strikes
Strike Price: $7 to $9 range
Analysis: BMBL spot price ranged from $7.77 to $7.90 during the trades. Repeated buying of near-the-money and slightly out-of-the-money calls indicates bullish sentiment and anticipation of a short-term move higher. The use of multi-sweep orders and large premium commitment reinforces strong directional conviction.

Institutional Spotlight: July 31, 2025
Tracking Key Stakeholder Moves Across U.S. and Canadian Markets
Institutional activity surged into month-end, with a broad mix of asset managers, hedge funds, and pension authorities filing fresh holdings across a diverse set of companies. These disclosures reveal targeted confidence in select small- and mid-cap equities, as well as renewed interest in certain speculative and biotech names.
1832 Asset Management LP disclosed several substantial positions. It now holds 5,311,280 shares of GRP/U, representing 8.47% ownership, and 2,532,836 shares of CIGI, equating to 5.13% ownership. The firm also increased its exposure to Gildan Activewear (GIL) with 7,412,206 shares, giving it a 4.92% stake, and holds 3,304,033 shares of TFII (3.96% ownership). These purchases suggest ongoing institutional interest in Canadian industrial and apparel names.
Bank of Montreal (BMO) filed numerous positions, asserting itself as an active participant in SPAC-related investments and niche industrials. The bank reported 2,700,000 shares of SDHI, equating to a commanding 9.00% ownership, along with 2,150,000 shares of KCHVU (8.33% ownership) and 1,266,700 shares of TVVAIU (6.18% ownership). Other notable BMO filings included JENA.U (1,230,000 shares; 5.30%), SCD.R (1,528,853 shares; 8.17%), and RJAC (1,340,200 shares; 5.62%). Across these filings, BMO appears focused on vehicles with SPAC, industrial, or healthcare implications—betting on emerging growth themes within their early stages.
U.S. hedge fund Empery Asset Management LP, known for its biotech and micro-cap strategy, revealed large stakes across several small-cap health tech names. The firm now owns 953,185 shares of TOVX and 1,647,963 shares of XTIA, both at the threshold 9.99% ownership, signaling its maximum allowable passive stake under regulatory guidelines. Additional filings included 3,195,641 shares of OTLK (7.57%) and 609,342 shares of CYN (8.66%). The coordinated timing and concentration suggest aggressive positioning ahead of potential biotech catalysts.
Elsewhere, Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Alberta, through AIMCo, filed a 7.40% stake in VSTS, representing 9,692,000 shares. This rare public sector investment highlights the growing role of provincial capital in the innovation economy.
Point72 Asset Management, led by Steve Cohen, reported a new position in REPL, acquiring 4,462,500 shares, translating to 5.70% ownership. The move may reflect a speculative bet on a turnaround or breakthrough in the company’s drug pipeline.
Japanese giant Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Holdings expanded its U.S. footprint with substantial filings in both TXG (6,013,989 shares; 5.40%) and GCMG (3,752,965 shares; 7.50%), underscoring increasing international appetite for U.S.-listed innovation platforms and asset management firms.
In one of the day’s largest disclosed positions, Zeno Equity Partners LLP, led by Cristiano Souza, amassed 17,145,347 shares of WALD, representing a 14.50% stake. This outsized holding hints at activist or deep conviction positioning in the company.
Norges Bank, the sovereign wealth fund of Norway, disclosed a 5.90% stake in VNET, totaling 93,764,712 shares—one of the largest holdings reported today by any single entity. This aligns with ongoing strategic positioning in infrastructure and cloud services.
Standard Life Aberdeen PLC also remained active, filing 8,243,941 shares of IMUX (8.60% ownership) and 2,750,714 shares of QURE (5.02% ownership), signaling increased exposure to the high-risk, high-reward biotech sector.
Lastly, value-focused fund RWWM Inc. significantly increased its position in DJCO, acquiring 334,902 shares, or 24.31% of the company. Such a high-conviction stake reflects a bold vote of confidence in this low-liquidity, high-quality holding often associated with Charlie Munger.
