Unusual Activity Report

This daily report focuses on three key components that can lead to market momentum: unusual options activity, insider buying, and institutional sponsorship. By scanning for these signals each day, we uncover potential stock movements driven by notable trades, insider transactions, and institutional investments. Using advanced algorithms and proprietary research methods, we sift through vast amounts of data to identify unique opportunities, offering timely insights highlighting emerging market momentum.

Standout Options Trades

This section highlights notable options trades reflecting significant sentiment—bullish, bearish, or mixed—characterized by high-dollar-value transactions or large trade sizes exceeding prior open interest. When open interest rises from the previous day, it often indicates the creation of new positions rather than the closing of existing ones, suggesting a fresh outlook on the underlying stock or ETF.

For instance, call buying generally signals an expectation of upward movement, while selling calls suggest the trader anticipates the price will stay below a certain level. Put selling reflects confidence that the price will hold above the strike, implying stability. In contrast, put buying may reveal a bearish outlook or serve as a hedge against a larger bullish position elsewhere.

This report highlights large, unusual options trades identified for their size and potential impact, representing individual sentiment rather than broad market consensus. These trades are informational and are not intended as buy or sell signals. They reflect noteworthy activity observed during the trading day and should be viewed as one part of a broader analysis.

Options Flow Analysis: Trading Day 2025-6-5

The following analysis focuses on the Stock Options Flow Leaderboard for the trading day 2025-6-5. Each section highlights significant institutional activity, providing sentiment, key observations, and market expectations based on the data. All numbers represent large block trades likely executed by institutional players, not total-market figures.

Note: This report highlights institutional block option flow based on net premium. Strike prices and expiration dates are not available with block data.

iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (TLT)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Institutions sold a massive $46.2 million in put premium while buying just $607,500 in downside protection. Meanwhile, call flow was slightly bearish in isolation, with more calls sold ($4.7 million) than bought ($1.1 million).
Total Values: Over $52 million in total premium, with most activity concentrated on the put side
Expectations: The overwhelmingly bullish signal comes from the substantial put selling, indicating that institutions are betting TLT will hold or rise from current levels. Despite some call selling, the net premium strongly favors a bullish outlook on long-term U.S. Treasuries, potentially reflecting expectations for falling interest rates or increased demand for safety.

Apple Inc. (AAPL)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Significant put selling with over $295 million in premium collected, far outweighing the $133 million in put premium bought. Call activity was mixed, with premium bought at $9.6 million versus $7.5 million sold.
Total Values: Over $438 million in combined options activity
Expectations: The dominance of put selling—likely below the current spot price—suggests strong institutional confidence in AAPL’s stability and potential for upside.

CoreWeave, Inc. (CRWV)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Institutions bought $408 million in call premium while selling $270 million, alongside a small margin of put selling exceeding put buying.
Total Values: Roughly $695 million in combined premium
Expectations: Heavy call buying supports a bullish directional view, while modest put selling adds a layer of reinforcement that downside is being discounted.

Moderna, Inc. (MRNA)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Although call activity was light, the bulk of positioning came from put selling, with $34.6 million collected versus just $1.2 million bought.
Total Values: Over $36 million in put-side exposure
Expectations: The strong skew toward put selling points to institutional bets that MRNA holds its ground or rises, especially after recent volatility.

MicroStrategy Inc. (MSTR)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Call premium bought ($66.7 million) outpaced call selling ($39.9 million), supported by bullish put selling at $1.3 million versus $1.6 million in bought protection.
Total Values: Total premium near $109 million
Expectations: This flow signals a directional bet on upside, likely in anticipation of Bitcoin-linked momentum.

Diamondback Energy, Inc. (FANG)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Zero call activity, but a decisive bet on price stability through $45.9 million in put premium collected—more than double the $20.6 million in protection bought.
Total Values: $66.5 million across the put side
Expectations: Institutions appear confident that FANG’s price will remain above the sold put levels, suggesting strong positioning in energy.

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (TMO)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Bullish skew via put selling ($65 million) significantly outweighing puts bought ($39.8 million), with no call flow of note.
Total Values: Over $104 million in put-related trades
Expectations: Flow suggests confidence that TMO will remain stable or rise, consistent with defensive posturing in uncertain macro environments.

NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Call premium bought at $106.8 million exceeded call selling at $83.2 million, while put premium bought and sold were nearly balanced.
Total Values: Over $249 million in total options premium
Expectations: The tilt toward call buying supports upside anticipation, with some protective hedging evident. This may reflect a mix of bullishness with volatility management.

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Although AMD saw $37.1 million in put premium bought, it was significantly outweighed by $62.8 million in put premium sold. This resulted in a large net collection of premium via put selling. Call flow was light and skewed toward selling.
Total Values: Over $112 million in options premium
Expectations: The strong put selling suggests institutions are collecting premium with confidence that AMD will hold above key levels. Despite some protective puts being bought, the bullish sentiment is reinforced by the large net premium collected through downside selling.

NIKE, Inc. (NKE)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Institutional flow reveals heavy put selling at $26.9 million, strongly outweighing both puts bought ($7.7 million) and a balanced call trade.
Total Values: Over $37 million in put premium alone
Expectations: Market participants are showing confidence that NKE will hold current support, potentially building a base for future upside.

Marvell Technology, Inc. (MRVL)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Minimal call premium bought but strong put selling at $23 million vs. just $4.4 million in puts bought.
Total Values: Nearly $28 million in combined put trades
Expectations: This asymmetric put selling reflects a stabilizing outlook, likely betting on near-term bottoming behavior.

Exxon Mobil Corporation (XOM)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Heavy premium collected from put selling at $21.5 million versus only $4 million in put protection bought.
Total Values: Nearly $26 million in put flow
Expectations: The structure suggests a bullish outlook on energy, with XOM seen as resilient in current macro conditions.

Danaher Corporation (DHR)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Put selling at $19.6 million stood out against only $3.5 million in puts bought; minimal call involvement.
Total Values: Just under $23 million
Expectations: Flow indicates downside risk is being dismissed as institutions take bullish exposure through puts.

Arm Holdings plc (ARM)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Call premium bought at $19.9 million overwhelmed the $1 million sold; put buying was modest, while put selling added another $75,890 in premium.
Total Values: Over $24 million in options premium
Expectations: Call demand dominates, signaling bullish directional bets potentially tied to semiconductor strength.

Meta Platforms, Inc. (META)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Call premium bought ($25.8 million) doubled that sold ($13.1 million), supported by net put selling as well.
Total Values: Over $41 million in aggregate trades
Expectations: META continues to attract bullish flow, likely in anticipation of continued momentum in the tech space.

United Parcel Service, Inc. (UPS)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Put premium sold at $19.8 million dwarfed the $10.3 million in puts bought. Minimal call flow.
Total Values: Over $30 million in total premium
Expectations: Institutions are collecting premium on downside levels, betting on UPS holding current range or recovering.

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (REGN)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: No calls, but $49 million in put selling vs. $40.5 million in puts bought leans bullish.
Total Values: Nearly $90 million in put premium
Expectations: A confidence play on REGN’s stability, likely indicating institutions believe in price support below current levels.

Constellation Brands, Inc. (STZ)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Put selling at $18.2 million outweighed the $10 million in protection bought, with no notable call flow.
Total Values: Over $28 million in premium
Expectations: Bullish bet on price holding firm or climbing from current levels.

Total Values: $113,610 in call premium paid
Strike Price: $14
Days to Expiry: Two hundred twenty-five days
Expectations: With the spot price at $10.65, this aggressive long-dated call buy suggests conviction in a significant rebound or fundamental revaluation over the medium term.

AST SpaceMobile (ASTS)
Sentiment: Bearish
Options Activity: One large short-term call purchase for the June 20, 2025 expiration at the $25 strike, though it’s significantly out-of-the-money.
Total Values: $317,959 in call premium paid

Days to Expiry: Fifteen days

Institutional Spotlight: Surge in Hedge Fund Accumulation Across Multiple Sectors

A wave of institutional buying has emerged across a diverse group of sectors, with hedge funds notably increasing their equity exposure in several names this past quarter. Leading the charge is AESI (Industrials), where hedge fund ownership soared by +731% quarter-over-quarter, climbing from modest levels to 6.81 million shares held. This outsized accumulation suggests a robust conviction in AESI’s longer-term industrial growth potential.

In the Technology sector, QRVO witnessed a +663% surge in hedge fund holdings, now totaling 14.63 million shares, reflecting a renewed interest in semiconductor and wireless infrastructure plays. Similarly, ZETA experienced a +314% increase in institutional positioning, while MDB, a high-growth software name, saw hedge funds lift their stakes by +198%, now totaling 6.55 million shares.

The Finance sector also showed meaningful inflows, particularly in RKT (Rocket Companies) and LX, with hedge fund ownership rising +458% and +393%, respectively. RKT now sits at 12.76 million shares held, indicating that funds may be positioning for a cyclical rebound in the mortgage and fintech space.

On the Energy front, CNQ and DINO both saw sharp increases in hedge fund participation, up +406% and +233%, respectively. These inflows point to growing institutional confidence in the sector’s pricing power and cash flow generation amid volatile commodity markets.

Among Utilities, EXC and DUK experienced a notable rise in hedge fund ownership. EXC holdings climbed by +291%, while DUK advanced by +220%, signaling a potential flight to defensive sectors with steady yield amid macroeconomic uncertainty.

The Materials sector was not left behind, with hedge funds increasing their stake in FCX by +325%. With 19.61 million shares now held, institutional activity suggests a bullish view on copper demand trends. Meanwhile, NUE also saw holdings jump +229%, reinforcing broader interest in industrial metals.

Rounding out the list is INTC, where hedge funds upped their stake by +248% to 31.77 million shares, likely in anticipation of a turnaround story supported by geopolitical semiconductor initiatives. In the Consumer Discretionary space, RBA showed a +188% increase in holdings, suggesting institutional interest in cyclical exposure as consumer strength shows signs of resilience.
