Unusual Activity Report

This daily report focuses on three key components that can lead to market momentum: unusual options activity, insider buying, and institutional sponsorship. By scanning for these signals each day, we uncover potential stock movements driven by notable trades, insider transactions, and institutional investments. Using advanced algorithms and proprietary research methods, we sift through vast amounts of data to identify unique opportunities, offering timely insights highlighting emerging market momentum.

Standout Options Trades

This section highlights notable options trades reflecting significant sentiment—bullish, bearish, or mixed—characterized by high-dollar-value transactions or large trade sizes exceeding prior open interest. When open interest rises from the previous day, it often indicates the creation of new positions rather than the closing of existing ones, suggesting a fresh outlook on the underlying stock or ETF.

For instance, call buying generally signals an expectation of upward movement, while selling calls suggest the trader anticipates the price will stay below a certain level. Put selling reflects confidence that the price will hold above the strike, implying stability. In contrast, put buying may reveal a bearish outlook or serve as a hedge against a larger bullish position elsewhere.

Note: This report highlights large, unusual options trades identified for their size and potential impact, representing individual sentiment rather than broad market consensus. These trades are informational and are not intended as buy or sell signals. They reflect noteworthy activity observed during the trading day and should be viewed as one part of a broader analysis.

Options Flow Analysis: Trading Day 2025-3-26

The following analysis focuses on the Stock Options Flow Leaderboard for the trading day 2025-3-26. Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Institutional flows were skewed toward buying calls and selling puts, a traditionally bullish posture.
Total Values: $4.10M in call premium bought, $409K in put premium collected

FedEx Corporation (FDX)
Sentiment: Bearish

Expectations: Institutions are confident the price will stay above the sold put levels, reflecting a strong bullish stance.

Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Call buyers were active, and puts were both bought and sold, but the overall net premium and call focus indicates bullishness.

Nano Dimension Ltd. (NNDM)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: Large institutional put selling dominates the flow.

Individual Options Trades: Trading Day 2025-3-26

This section focuses on unusual trades that stand out on an individual basis. These trades are highlighted for their distinctiveness, reflecting significant activity that diverges from typical market behavior.

iShares MSCI Germany ETF (EWG)
Sentiment: Bearish
Options Activity: Multiple large-scale PUT purchases across several expirations. Notably, PUTs at the $36 and $37 strikes were bought expiring on April 17, 2025 (22 days to expire), with spot near $37.53. Further PUT buying occurred for the $37 strike expiring May 16, 2025 (51 days to expire), and the $38 strike expiring July 18, 2025 (114 days to expire). Additionally, CALLs at the $37 strike were sold for the May 16 expiry, and $39 strike CALLs were sold for April 17, 2025.
Total Values: Over $946,000 in premium spent on PUTs, approximately $219,000 in premium collected from CALL selling
Strike Price: $36–$39
Expectations: With EWG trading around $37.53, the concentrated PUT buying near-the-money and slightly out-of-the-money signals a bearish outlook or hedging interest. The CALL selling below spot reinforces a bearish stance, expecting the ETF to stay below these levels.

First Solar (FSLR)
Sentiment: Bearish
Options Activity: Significant long-dated PUT buying for the January 15, 2027 expiration (660 days to expire) at the $125 strike while the stock trades around $128.75.
Total Values: Over $17.3 million in premium spent
Strike Price: $125
Expectations: With FSLR at $128.75, the large investment in deep-dated $125 PUTs indicates a bearish bet or a sizable hedge expecting potential downside over a long horizon.

Target Corporation (TGT)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: CALLs bought at the $110 strike for the June 20, 2025 expiration (87 days to expire), above the spot price of $106.01. The size exceeded prior open interest.
Total Values: $1,118,000 in premium spent
Strike Price: $110
Expectations: With TGT trading at $106.01, the purchase of out-of-the-money CALLs suggests bullish sentiment, expecting a move above $110 by late June.

S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures (VXX)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: PUTs sold at the $47 strike for the September 19, 2025 expiration (177 days to expire), with spot at $47.12.
Total Values: $949,050 in premium collected
Strike Price: $47
Expectations: With VXX trading at $47.12, selling $47 PUTs just below spot shows confidence the ETF will stay above this level. Premium was collected, suggesting a bullish or neutral stance favoring stability or mild upside.

Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: CALL buying at the $35 strike for the October 17, 2025 expiration (205 days to expire), with spot at $34.01. Multiple trades exceeded open interest, indicating new positioning.
Total Values: $330,000 in premium spent
Strike Price: $35
Expectations: With KDP trading at $34.01, the purchase of $35 CALLs suggests bullish expectations of a move above that level before expiration.

Devon Energy (DVN)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: PUTs sold at the $40 strike for the June 18, 2026 expiration (449 days to expire), with the spot price at $37.64.
Total Values: $931,500 in premium collected
Strike Price: $40
Expectations: With DVN trading below the $40 strike, this deep out-of-the-money PUT selling reflects a bullish stance focused on premium collection, anticipating the stock will rise above or stay near this level over the long term.

Bilibili Inc. (BILI)
Sentiment: Bullish
Options Activity: CALLs bought at the $20 strike for the October 17, 2025 expiration (205 days to expire), with spot at $19.41.
Total Values: $2,214,000 in premium spent
Strike Price: $20

Institutional Spotlight: Rising Hedge Fund Ownership Signals Renewed Confidence Across Key Sectors

Recent filings reveal a robust wave of institutional accumulation in consumer discretionary and consumer staples names. Leading the charge is Monster Beverage (MNST), where hedge fund ownership skyrocketed by +1,043% quarter-over-quarter, with total holdings now exceeding 13.47 million shares. This dramatic rise suggests a strong endorsement of the company’s long-term growth profile amid steady demand and operational execution.

Similarly, Devon Energy (DVN) saw an +840% increase in hedge fund ownership, totaling 6.26 million shares. The substantial inflows underscore a renewed appetite for energy exposure as investors anticipate continued stability in commodity prices and upstream profitability.

Retail and apparel names also saw notable inflows. Tapestry (TPR) attracted a +272% increase, bringing hedge fund holdings to 11.81 million shares, while Dick’s Sporting Goods (DKS) followed closely with a +242% rise to 2.10 million shares. The heightened accumulation across these names points to growing institutional confidence in consumer spending resilience despite broader economic uncertainty.

Broad-Based Accumulation Across Sectors

Other notable gainers include Ulta Beauty (ULTA) with a +213% increase, and Academy Sports (AS), which saw hedge fund ownership jump by +154% to over 27 million shares—one of the highest absolute totals on the list. In the utilities sector, Xcel Energy (XEL) and AES Corp (AES) posted sharp ownership increases of +159% and +110%, respectively, the latter notable given its outsized move amid a backdrop of rising clean energy interest.

In the industrial and technology sectors, ATI Inc. (ATI) and Semtech Corp (SMTC) both saw hedge fund activity more than double. ATI, with a +148% gain, now sits at 8 million shares held, reflecting a pivot toward industrial metals and aerospace exposure. Meanwhile, Zoom Video (ZM) and Microchip Technology (MCHP) experienced ownership increases of +138% and +92%, respectively, marking a possible reentry into tech names that had fallen out of favor in prior quarters.

Finance, Health Care, and Other Notables

Financials also experienced growing interest. Old National Bancorp (ONB) posted a +217% jump, while Arthur J. Gallagher (AJG) and State Street Corp (STT) followed with +118% and +106% increases, respectively. These moves suggest growing institutional alignment with banks and insurers amid a stabilizing rate environment.

In health care, Humana (HUM) and uniQure (QURE) saw significant activity, particularly QURE, where hedge fund holdings climbed +87% to 18.38 million shares, indicating increasing conviction in the biotech’s therapeutic pipeline.
